Appliance repair · Baltimore, MD Appliance repair marketing, from more than a year inside one shop's search data.

I run search, ads and the Google Business Profile for an appliance repair company in Baltimore, and every number on this page comes off that account. Half of what people type is the name of an appliance. Under a tenth of it carries the city. And about one percent of the times the site shows up is where nearly all of its clicks come from.

01

What appliance repair marketing has to do before anything else.

Appliance repair technician taking a call from a customer, the moment appliance repair marketing has to win for a Baltimore repair business

Appliance repair marketing is the work of putting a repair company in front of somebody whose fridge stopped cooling this morning, in the ten minutes before they call somebody else. That is the whole job. The website, the Google Business Profile, the paid ads and the customer reviews are either serving that moment or they're decoration.

Most advice about it starts from channels. Do local SEO, post on social media, collect more positive reviews. All of that is worth doing, and none of it tells you where the demand in this trade sits. That takes an account with a year of history in it. I have one open, and the three things it says are not what the advice says.

Half the demand is an appliance

Not the trade and not the city. People type the machine that broke.

Page one is the whole market

Everything below position 20 converts at a rounding error, however many people see it.

Your map listing has a radius

A real 25 point grid shows exactly where a profile stops showing up.

Beautiful won't bring in clients. The system behind it does.

02

Where appliance repair customers search, measured.

Owner of an appliance repair business studying search demand through binoculars, the appliance repair marketing research behind Another Monday's local SEO work

Half of what people type is the name of an appliance. Over 400 days of Search Console data from one Baltimore appliance repair company, searches naming a specific machine, refrigerator repair, freezer repair, garbage disposal repair, made up 49.8 percent of the times that site appeared in search results. Searches with the city attached made up 9.3 percent.

Appliance name searches carry about five and a half times the visibility of city name searches in this trade. So an appliance repair business that optimizes for its city and stops there is competing hard for the fourth largest slice of its own market.

Two ideas that sound smart die in that table. Cost content is three tenths of one percent of the demand. Repair or replace content is one tenth of one percent. Both get written constantly, and as a way to get found in appliance repair they're close to nothing. They still earn their keep on the site for the customer who's already reading and deciding, which is a different job from acquisition.

03

Why most of your search visibility earns nothing.

Positions one to three are about one percent of the times that site appeared in Google, and they produce roughly six of every ten clicks it gets. Everything from position 21 downward is close to sixty percent of the appearances, and it converts at five hundredths of one percent.

This is the honest answer to the question every owner asks about a search report. The impressions went up, so why didn't the phone ring. Sitting on page three of the search results isn't a smaller version of sitting on page one. It's a different thing, and in appliance repair it's worth almost nothing.

It also sets the expectation properly, which matters if you're paying somebody monthly. Moving a page from 24 to 14 looks like progress on a chart and changes the click count by very little. Moving it from 14 to 3 changes the business. Any marketing agency reporting on appliance repair rankings should be telling you which of those two it's working on.

Impressions are not visibility. Page one is.

04

How far your Google Business Profile reaches.

Every competitor page about appliance repair marketing says to optimize your Google Business Profile. None of them shows an owner that their map visibility has an edge to it. This is a 25 point scan of "appliance repair" on a 12 mile square around one Baltimore shop, three miles between points. The number in a square is where the profile ranked at that point. An empty square means it didn't appear there at all.

North is up. Cached grid, August 2026. 9 of 25 points, none in the top three, average rank 20.8 where it appears at all.

Read it as a gradient and the whole of local search makes sense. The shop ranks 4th at the point nearest it, 12th three miles out, 20th six miles out, and 39th at the far edge of where it shows up at all. Those last two points are about eight miles apart. Past that boundary the profile isn't ranked badly, it's absent, and no amount of work on the listing itself changes a customer's distance from your door.

What surprised me in the same scan was the competitor data rather than my own: the business appearing at the most points on this grid has 226 customer reviews, which is fewer than the shop I run. One with 1,401 reviews appears at less than half as many points. A shop with seven reviews appears at as many points as one with 138. Two of the five carry the city in the business name, and one of those two covers more of this grid than anybody.

Your map listing has a radius. Plan the service area around it.

05

What a Google Ads click costs in appliance repair.

Appliance repair business owner reading rising pay per click costs, the Google Ads cost per click range Another Monday publishes for the trade

On the appliance repair account I run, the monthly average cost per click ranged from $5.41 to $27.47 across the last twelve months, on thin click volume. Published benchmarks, LocalIQ's 2026 planning band, put home services and trades at $8 to $45 a click, so that range sits inside the benchmark and swings five times between its own months.

That swing matters more than any average. Everybody in this category publishes an average cost per lead and stops, and an average hides the month where a click cost four times what it cost in the quarter before. At the volumes a single shop runs, a handful of expensive clicks moves the whole month. That's why I won't quote you a cost per lead for appliance repair off somebody else's account, and why the planning numbers I use are national averages rounded up. If your ads come in cheaper than the plan, good. If they come in more expensive than the plan, the budget math stops working, and that is the case the rounded-up numbers protect against.

Paid search does a job search can't do on its own here, which is to cover the week you launch and the appliances you don't rank for yet. Running it properly is its own trade and the google ads agency baltimore page covers how I build and manage an account.

How much does appliance repair marketing cost?

Another Monday runs monthly plans at $800, $1,500 and $3,500, and the website is built inside the plan instead of billed as a separate project. For an appliance repair business sitting on a site it put together itself, that last part is usually the whole decision. Ad management is priced separately, per channel, on the ladder below.

What ad management costs

Two numbers, always. My fee for running the account, and the ad budget that goes straight to the platform. Move the slider to the budget you have in mind.

Every ad account I run comes with:

  • Your Google or Meta ad account set up with you, not handed over as homework
  • Conversion tracking wired into your CRM, your forms and your phone line
  • Keyword and competitor research before a dollar goes out the door
  • Campaigns and ad groups built around the way people search for you
  • A deliberately small starting budget, so we buy data before we buy volume
  • Negative keywords maintained, so you stop paying for the wrong clicks
  • A landing page built and split tested if you have nothing worth sending traffic to
  • Performance Max, YouTube and Demand Gen when they fit, never by default
  • A monthly walkthrough of what came in and what it cost, in plain English
My management fee $800 a month, per channel
Daily ad spend $82 billed by the platform, never through me

At this budget Room for a second campaign, optimization every week, and call tracking on your phone line.

What that budget buys

National averages, rounded up on purpose. Plenty of local businesses pay less than this, and that's the good surprise. The top band is a floor rather than a ceiling: legal and injury terms regularly run past a hundred dollars a click.

Lower cost clicks 500 clicks a month about 16 a day at a $5 click restaurants, salons, tutoring, events
Typical local services 167 clicks a month about 5 a day at a $15 click appliance repair, auto body, most trades
High competition 50 clicks a month about 2 a day at a $50 click legal, insurance, injury and specialty medical

None of the numbers feel doable? Let's have a conversation about it. We love working with local businesses and helping them grow, no matter what stage you're in.

The fee steps up with the size of the account because a bigger budget means more campaigns to build and more hours to run them, never because I take a cut of what you spend. Your ad budget is billed by Google or Meta directly to your own card and doesn't pass through me. How a whole marketing budget should split across channels is its own question, and the small business marketing budget guide walks that math for a local business.

07

The pages an appliance repair website needs.

Search engine optimization work on an appliance repair website, the appliance and city page architecture Another Monday builds for a repair company

Everybody in this category publishes tactics. Almost nobody publishes an architecture, which is strange, because the shape of the site is what decides whether the tactics have anywhere to land. This is the actual page count on the appliance repair site I operate, built directly against the demand split two sections up.

12

appliance pages

Refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, washer, dryer, oven, stove, cooktop, microwave, range hood, ice maker, garbage disposal. One page each, because that is how half the searches arrive.

14

city pages

Towson, Dundalk, Catonsville, Glen Burnie, Essex, Rosedale, Parkville, Timonium, White Marsh, Middle River, Annapolis, Bel Air, Westminster and Frederick, under one service area hub.

4

brand pages

LG, GE, Samsung and Whirlpool, each written honestly about what the company is certified to work on and what it simply repairs.

2

cost pages

A pricing page and a repair or replace page. Between them they are under half a percent of the search demand in this trade, and they still earn their keep once somebody is already reading.

The logic is one page per thing somebody searches for. Twelve appliance pages because appliance names are half the demand. Fourteen city pages under one service area hub because the map has an edge and organic results are how you reach past it. Brand pages because people search LG and Samsung by name. Every one of those pages links to the others that make sense for a customer, which is the part that takes months and the part that compounds.

Where this stops being an appliance repair question and becomes a search engine optimization question in general, the baltimore seo company page covers how I build and run the search side across any local business.

08

Reviews, and what they do and don't buy.

Five star customer review for an appliance repair company, the review signals Another Monday builds into a Google Business Profile in Baltimore

Customer reviews are the most repeated advice in this category and the grid in section four complicates it. Review count did not predict map pack coverage among those five competitors, and it wasn't close. Distance did more work than reputation.

What reviews genuinely decide is whether a stranger picks you once they can see you. Somebody is choosing who to let into their kitchen while their freezer defrosts onto the floor, and a wall of recent reviews with owner replies underneath them is most of that decision. So collect them constantly, reply to every one, and stop treating the count as a ranking lever it isn't.

The mechanical side of the profile does move: accurate categories, a full service list, photos, hours, and posts that keep it fed. The google business profile optimization checklist covers the whole listing, and the one appliance specific note is that the category list runs deeper than most owners realize. Add every category that is honestly true of your business and none that isn't.

09

Local Services Ads, and when they earn their slot.

Local Services Ads sit above the regular search ads and charge per lead instead of per click, and they come with the Google Guaranteed badge, which does more work in this trade than in most. A homeowner is deciding who to let inside their house, and a badge that says Google backed the booking answers a question your website is also trying to answer.

They need weekly attention to stay honest, because you get charged for leads that were never really leads and you have to dispute those to keep the cost where it should be. Run them alongside search and the regular ads, not in place of either. I run all three on the same appliance repair account, which is how I know what each one costs when the others are already working.

10

What AI search changed for repair companies.

Answer engine replying to an appliance repair question, the AI search visibility Another Monday builds into appliance repair marketing

I read thirteen competitor pages about marketing an appliance repair business while researching this one. Not one of them mentions AI search, AI Overviews or answer engines anywhere. Meanwhile, asking an answer engine which agency an appliance repair company should hire returns a named shortlist with sources attached, and being on that list is decided somewhere other than your own website.

For an appliance repair business the practical version is unglamorous and cheap. Plain pages an answer engine can read, no JavaScript required. One consistent set of business facts, the same name, address and phone in every place they appear. And answers written so a machine can lift a full sentence out of the middle of your page and have it still be true standing alone. Schema markup helps and it is not the lever people think it is, because an answer engine reads the words on the page first.

Write it so one sentence can be lifted out and still be true.

11

Should you buy appliance repair leads or generate your own?

Bought appliance repair leads are shared with your competitors, priced per lead, and they stop the day you stop paying. Lead generation through your own site and profile is slower to build, cheaper over time, and the asset stays yours. Both are real options and the mistake is treating it as a permanent choice between them.

Buying leads makes sense as a bridge. You have vans to keep busy this month and organic search takes months, so you rent demand while you build your own. What it can't be is the whole plan for five years, because at the end of five years you've paid somebody else to own the relationship with every customer you served. The appliance repair lead generation that pays off is the kind you keep.

12

How long before appliance repair marketing works?

Paid channels produce calls in the first week because you're buying placement outright. Search takes months, and the shape of it is worth knowing before you commit, because the middle of it feels like nothing is happening.

1

The flat stretch

The account on this page held between 89 and 120 organic clicks a month for about a year. Pages were being built and the profile was being fed, and the line barely moved.

2

The step change

Then July 2026 came in at 214 clicks, and that jump happened without a single new page going live, because the pages built earlier had climbed far enough up the rankings to start earning.

3

What it compounds into

Every appliance page that reaches page one adds its own small stream, and they add up quietly. The work in month two is what pays in month ten.

That flat stretch is where most owners fire the agency, and section three explains why it looks like failure while it's working. Pages sitting at position 24 collect appearances and almost no clicks. The chart stays flat right up until enough of them cross into the top few positions, and then it doesn't.

13

What I run for an appliance repair company.

Checklist of the six marketing channels Another Monday runs for an appliance repair company in Baltimore, from search to Local Services Ads

One appliance repair company, six channels, all of it on the same account. I'm not an appliance repair specialist agency and I'm not going to claim to be one. What I can show you is a single trades account run properly across everything at once, which is where the numbers on this page came from and why they're the kind of numbers nobody publishes.

Search

The pages above, the internal links between them, and the monthly work of keeping them ahead of five other shops going after the same appliance names.

Google Business Profile

Categories, service list, photos, a weekly post, and a reply on every review. The profile is the first thing most customers see and the last thing most owners maintain.

Google Ads

Built, tracked, and paused when the numbers say pause. This account has sat idle for months because search was carrying the phone, and I say that out loud rather than keep a channel running for show.

Local Services Ads

The Google Guaranteed badge and the pay per lead placement above the regular ads, run alongside search rather than in place of it.

Meta ads

Tested small. Six leads for $740 across the lifetime of the account, which is the honest number and the reason the budget sits elsewhere.

The website itself

Custom built, fast, and wired so a form submission reaches the office and the customer gets a confirmation without anybody retyping anything.

The other trade page on this site is the auto body shop marketing case study, which is the same job in a different trade and names the shop because that owner cleared it. Read either one and you're reading the same method applied to a business where the customer has a problem right now and very little patience.

I paid to learn this on my own businesses before I ever charged a client for it.

14

Questions appliance repair owners ask me.

What is the 50 rule for appliance repair?

The 50 percent rule is the trade rule of thumb that says an appliance is worth repairing when the repair costs less than half the price of replacing it, and worth replacing when it costs more. Customers ask about it far less than owners expect. In more than a year of search data from one appliance repair company, repair or replace questions were one tenth of one percent of the searches that surfaced the site.

How to get more appliance repair customers?

Get found for the appliance, not the trade. Half of the searches that reach an appliance repair business name a specific machine, so a company with a page for refrigerator repair, one for dryer repair and one for garbage disposal repair collects demand that a single services page cannot. Pair that with a maintained Google Business Profile, because the map pack sits above the regular results for almost every repair search.

Is an appliance repair business profitable?

Appliance repair is a healthy margin trade because the work is diagnostic labor on equipment the customer already owns, so there is little inventory risk and a service call has a floor price. What decides profitability is call volume and the mix of work, and marketing only moves the first of those. Ask an accountant about the second.

How much do appliance repair technicians charge per hour?

Hourly and flat rate pricing both exist in this trade, and the number varies enough by market and by appliance that publishing one figure would mislead somebody. What is worth knowing is that price is barely a search topic here. Cost and price questions were three tenths of one percent of the search demand in the account measured on this page, so pricing belongs on your site for the customer who is already reading, and it is a weak plan for getting found.

What does a Google Ads click cost for an appliance repair company?

On the appliance repair account Another Monday runs, the monthly average cost per click ranged from $5.41 to $27.47 across the last twelve months, on thin click volume. Published benchmarks, LocalIQ's 2026 planning band, put home services and trades at $8 to $45 a click. A five times swing between months is what a small trades account genuinely looks like, which is why a single average cost per lead headline is worth very little.

Should I buy appliance repair leads or generate my own?

Bought appliance repair leads are shared with competitors, priced per lead, and stop the day you stop paying. Leads you generate through your own site and Google Business Profile are yours, cost less over time, and take months to build. Buying leads makes sense as a bridge while search is being built, and as a permanent strategy it means renting your customer list from somebody else.

How many reviews do I need to rank in the map pack?

There is no review count that buys map pack coverage, and a real grid shows why. In a 25 point scan around one Baltimore shop, the competitor appearing at the most points had 226 reviews while the competitor with 1,401 reviews appeared at fewer than half as many. Distance from the searcher does more work than review count in this trade. Reviews still matter for whether somebody calls you once they see you.

How long does appliance repair marketing take to work?

Google Ads and Local Services Ads produce calls in the first week because you are buying placement. Search takes months, and the honest shape of it is a flat stretch followed by a step change. The account on this page sat between 89 and 120 organic clicks a month for about a year, then reached 214 in a single month once the appliance pages and the profile work had compounded.

Do I need a page for every appliance, or is one services page enough?

One services page is enough to describe what you do and too little to get found. Appliance name searches are roughly half the demand in this trade and they behave like separate markets, so refrigerator repair and dryer repair each want their own page with their own symptoms, brands and prices. The site measured on this page runs twelve appliance pages for that reason.

Is Local Services Ads worth it for appliance repair?

Local Services Ads are worth testing for an appliance repair business because the placement sits above the regular search ads and the Google Guaranteed badge does real work for a stranger deciding who to let into their kitchen. You pay per lead instead of per click, and you have to dispute the bad ones to keep the cost honest, so it needs somebody watching it weekly.

How much does appliance repair marketing cost?

Another Monday runs monthly plans at $800, $1,500 and $3,500, with the website built inside the plan instead of billed as a separate project. Ad management is priced on its own ladder per channel, starting at $500 a month, and your ad budget is billed by Google or Meta directly to you. There is no percentage of ad spend in any of it.

Does an appliance repair company need to worry about AI search?

Answer engines are already routing repair questions, and none of the thirteen competitor pages measured for this build mentioned them at all. The practical version for an appliance repair business is unglamorous: plain pages an answer engine can read, one consistent set of business facts everywhere they appear, and answers written so a machine can lift a whole sentence and have it still be true.
